Embodied Confidence
Pleasure Is Our Birthright š¤©
Iāve been thinking a lot about pleasure lately. Not just the kind we whisper about. Not just sex. But the full, rich, textured experience of feeling alive.
Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught to work hard, be responsible, push through⦠but not necessarily to feel good. And yet, Iām more and more convinced of this simple truth:
Pleasure is our birthright.
Not something we earn.
Not something we apologize for.
Not something reserved for special occasions.
Itās something we are made for.
Pleasure Is Everywhere (If We Slow Down)
Pleasure is sensual, emotional, mental, spiritual.
Itās the warm sand between your toes on a summer day.
The sound of birdsong early in the morning š¦
A cool swim in a river when the air is thick with heat.
Itās playing with your grandchildren.
A long hug from a dear friend.
Walking your dog at sunset when the world feels softer.
These moments arenāt small. They are sacred.
When we allow ourselves to truly feel them - not rush past them - something shifts. We feel rooted. Awake. Grateful.
Pleasure makes us feel alive.
And what is more sacred than aliveness?
Yes⦠Pleasure Is Also Sexual
Letās not pretend that sensual and sexual pleasure arenāt part of this conversation.
Pleasure can be the conscious awareness of your belovedās touch on your skin.
The electricity of a deep kiss.
The quiet intimacy of gazing into each otherās eyes.
And yes, ultimately orgasm.
But even here, pleasure is more than performance or goal. Itās presence.
Itās giving yourself time and permission to discover what feels good in your body. To explore. To listen. To soften. We are responsible for our own pleasure and when we share it with a partner, it becomes a beautiful exchange of energy, trust, and joy.
Pleasure is sacred š
Pleasure is power.
Pleasure is spirit moving through flesh.
Nature Is Deeply Erotic
When I look at nature, Iām reminded that erotism is simply aliveness.
Bees seduced by a flower šŗ
Branches swaying in the wind
Dragonflies forming heart-shaped wheels mid-air
Water lilies opening to sunlight š·
Life is constantly reaching for life.
There is pulse. Movement. Desire. Creation.
Erotism, at its heart, is that feeling of life moving through us, excitement, vitality, presence. Itās not something separate from spirituality. It is spirituality embodied.
Pleasure is Spirit expressed through sensation.
What Happens As We Age?
What happens when desire wanes? When life feels heavy? When stress or grief dulls our senses?
We return to pleasure.
Not by forcing passion.
But by practicing awareness.
By noticing the warmth of tea in our hands.
The softness of cloth against our skin.
The sound of someone we love, laughing.
When we regularly practice gratitude for what makes us feel whole and alive, we become more conscious of pleasure. And once we become conscious of it, we begin to advocate for it.
We stop settling for numbness and disconnect.
We claim joy as essential, not optional.
So, here is a gentle invitation....
If pleasure truly is our birthright, then it deserves reflection.
Sit with these questions:
What does pleasure mean to you?
What blocks pleasure in your life?
Where do you feel pleasure in your body?
There are no right answers. Only honest ones.
Claiming pleasure doesnāt make us selfish. It makes us alive. And alive people create, love, heal, and connect more deeply.
So hereās my reminder ā to you and to myself:
Claim your birthright!
PLEASURE
With Love and Light
