Principles of the Sacred Feminine: A Beginner's Guide

The Sacred Feminine framework is not new, but deeply rooted in ancient wisdom. It is not applied to any religious doctrine or a replacement for Christianity. It is a language and framework that views the nature of God, also as mothering, comforting, life-giving and nurturing.

Within this framework all human beings consist of both feminine and masculine energies.

Within Christianity, alongside strength, authority, and structure, we also find feminine themes of nurture, compassion, comfort, creativity, embodiment, relational love, and inner knowing, all qualities associated with the Sacred Feminine. In the Christian tradition Eve, Mary (mother of Jesus), Mary Magdalene, and Sophia (Holy Wisdom) symbolise the Sacred Feminine.

Here are general principles of the Sacred Feminine which informs my coaching:

Principle 1

Embodiment integrated with the mind, heart and spirit. Wisdom lives in the body, not only in the mind.

Purpose:

Many women feel disconnected from their bodies, feelings and intuition. To remember the body’s inner wisdom restores authenticity, self-trust and clarity.

Principle 2

Cycles instead of constant output. Life moves in rhythms, rest, growth, release, renewal.

Purpose:

Burnout comes from living constantly in overload and overdrive. Cyclical awareness of our natural rhythms teaches us when to rest, realign and restore.

Principle 3

Receptivity Is Strength

Openness to receiving are powerful. It can give us agency and teach us gratitude

Purpose:

Women are often very good at giving but find it more difficult to receive. Receptivity cultivate connection, restoration, deepening of intimacy.

Principle 4

Intuition Is Divine inner wisdom.

Trusting the ‘gut’ can be a form of guidance.

Purpose:

Over-reliance on external voices, over-thinking and self-critisism can disconnect us from our authenticity and inner wisdom. We need to tap into our intuition as a guide.

Principle 5

Relational intelligence matters

Connection is foundational to our holistic well-being.

Purpose:

As human beings we regulate, heal, and grow through safe connection with self, others, and the world around us.

Principle 6

Passion is life-giving energy.

Passion supports vitality, creativity and meaning.

Purpose:

Shame and suppression around desire and pleasure leads to numbness and disconnection from what makes us feel alive. Passion increases emotional resilience, inspiration, creativity and joy.

Principle 7

Emotional intelligence is valued

Emotions carry meaning and can teach us things about ourselves.

Purpose:

Suppressed emotions when stored in the body can lead to sickness and depression. Awareness and release of emotions lead to freedom, integration and ease.

Principle 8

Creation Over Perfection

Expression and the process of creativity is more important than doing everything perfect.

Purpose:

Creative expression restores agency and empowers us with a sense of worth and meaning.

Principle 9

Integration Over Fragmentation

All parts of ourselves are welcome — light and shadow.

Purpose:

Wholeness comes from integration and accepting who we are, and not through denial or suppression. Integration cultivates authenticity and freedom to be ourselves.

Principle 10

Presence vs Over-thinking

Being is more powerful than Doing.

Purpose:

Always being busy leads to burnout. Presence creates clarity, calmness, insight and transformation.

The Sacred Feminine - who is your TRUE SELF, invites you to come home to your authenticity, inner wisdom, intuition, creativity, vulnerability and sense of aliveness.

When you live from your truth - who you are in your essence (worthy and whole) you embody yourself with CONFIDENCE!
